Las Vegas Bridge Engineering Jobs
Bridge engineering encompasses the structural design, inspection, construction, and performance of bridges, including bridges that are an integral part of the highway infrastructure and transportation system.
Qualified candidates will find a variety of bridge engineering jobs in Las Vegas. Those who are new to the field must be licensed and have a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty. They must work under the supervision of a senior engineer and may also be expected to take additional classes and coursework.
Most Las Vegas bridge engineering jobs require candidates to hold a master’s degree (or doctorate in some cases). According to the U. S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, a bridge engineer can expect to earn anywhere from $46,080 (for a starting position) to more than $120,610, depending on work experience and education.
In Las Vegas, bridge engineers are in demand to focus on highway structures and other structural elements of the highway system, especially because a large volume of freight going into and out of Southern Nevada is carried by truck and train. Engineers are needed to inspect, load test, perform seismic evaluations and retrofit existing structures for safety and to help alleviate traffic congestion issues.
