Las Vegas Engineering Jobs

Engineering uses math and science to solve technical problems. Professional engineers must be innovative, analytical and creative. But they must also be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and on paper, because engineers usually work as part of a team that may include professionals outside the scope of engineering.

Although not required, most engineers choose a field of specialization, which could include one of more than 20 engineering specialties. The greatest demand for engineers to fill Las Vegas engineering jobs is in construction, electrical, civil, bridge, structural, mechanical and architectural engineering. Mining engineering is also a critical niche.

The hours are great, usually a 40-hour work week, although extra hours may be required to meet a tight deadline or critical project. And the pay is excellent — starting salaries for engineers are among the highest of all college graduates.

Job growth in the engineering field is strong, particularly in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas metro area continues to be among the fastest-growing areas in the nation, and with an increase population comes a need for better infrastructure, places for people to live and go to school, and buildings where people can work and play.

Major developments underway in the resort industry alone include MGM Mirage’s CityCenter, Turnberry Associates’ Fountainbleau, Cannery Casino Resorts’ Eastside Cannery, Jackie Gaughan’s Plaza and Las Vegas Club in Downtown Las Vegas, and Phil Ruffin’s high-end resort on the site of the former New Frontier.
