APPROXIMATE SALARY$61,951 - $93,187 per yr

LOCATION: Carson, Minden, Gardnerville, Genoa





Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinates; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish agency goals and objectives.

The incumbent is responsible for managing the division's multi-million dollar capital improvements program, including the $27 million 2002 Question 1 bond issue and procurement of various matching grants; A/E design services and construction of new facilities, facility renovations, historic preservation projects and technical assistance for field staff. Of equal importance is management of all planning functions for the 25 unit Nevada State Park system, including: periodic revision of the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP), State Park System Plan, feasibility studies for new/proposed park sites, conducting comprehensive General Management (Master) Plans for individual parks, the Nevada State Trails Plan, and other related planning studies and user surveys. The incumbent also manages the agency's acquisition, environmental compliance, and grants programs, including two federal grant programs (Land & Water Conservation Fund and Recreation Trails), which benefit both state and local entities. Representation of the Division of State Parks on various inter-agency committees comprises an additional responsibility. The incumbent may receive a 5% increase in salary due to supervising employees at the same grade level.

To Qualify

Education and Experience

1)Licensure as a Landscape Architect by the Nevada Board of Landscape Architecture, as an Architect by the State Board of Architecture or as a Professional Engineer by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and three years of post-licensure work experience which involved the planning, development and/or management of a city, county or regional park system program, including the establishment of project goals and objectives, administering project budgets, and directing the development and administration of master plans for park development and/or construction projects; OR one year of experience as a Landscape Architect Supervisor or a Supervisor IV, Registered Professional Engineer in Nevada State service.

Special Notes

1)Any person registered as a Landscape Architect, Architect, or Professional engineer in another state must become registered in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment.

Special Requirements

1)A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.

Additional Position Experience

1)Travel up to 25% of the time may be required within Nevada and out of State.

2)A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
