APPROXIMATE SALARY$45,560 - $67,693 per yr

LOCATION: Elko



Developmental Specialists provide individual and group clinical, developmental and support services for individuals of all ages who have, or who may be at risk for, developmental delays, developmental disabilities, or related conditions, and social, emotional, and/or behavioral disorders.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position will be located in the Elko District Office of the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services. The incumbent will collaborate with community organizations and agencies on a variety of statewide initiatives to improve the quality of child care and increase the opportunities for professional development available to child care providers. The incumbent will develop and present workshops and provide consultation to support child care providers in areas of environment, socialization and guidance, inclusion, material and activities, teacher/child interaction and parent involvement. The person in this position will also provide child care resource and referral (CCR&R) services; provide technical assistance to directors and home-based child care providers who are interested in national accreditation. The incumbent will also provide technical assistance and training to providers who are interested in becoming licensed through the Bureau of Services for Child Care. A questionnaire will be sent to qualified applicants for completion and submission prior to the scheduled interview date.

To Qualify

Education and Experience

1)Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, special education, human growth and development, psychology, counseling, social work or a closely related field and three years of experience in an early intervention program, early childhood program, early childhood special education setting, mental health or mental retardation facility, or a clinical setting providing developmental, special education, or treatment-oriented services; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

1)A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

2)A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

3)A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

Additional Position Experience

1)Additionally this position requires experience working in an early childhood education program (birth to 5 years of age) and knowledge of child care licensing regulations.
