Position Description
The Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) Manager will support the Nevada Cancer Institute's Cancer Registry in abstracting cancer related information from electronic and paper medical records. This position supports internal cancer committees and all efforts leading to NVCI receiving accreditation as a CoC Approved Cancer Program. The CTR Manager will manage all Cancer Registry staff on daily processes, assign tasks, follow all standards (FORDS, NACCR, and State) for the collection of cancer data, conduct QA on data in the registry, produces reports as needed and conducts follow-ups with all analytic cases in the cancer registry. Will perform all duties in accordance with NVCI's behavioral standards, mission, vision and values of Discovery, Excellence, Collaboration, Compassion, Integrity and Stewardship.
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Minimum of three to five years experience with tumor registry abstracting and a minimum of two years previous experience in abstracting cancer information from medical records and/or pathology reports with a minimum of three to five years supervisor or management experience are required. Qualified candidates must be able to accurately stage tumors by using TNM, SEER, and Collaborative Staging criteria. Knowledge of Medical Records organization is required. Must be able to perform duties independently and work closely with physicians in interpreting pathology and other clinical reports for final determination, interpret medical reports for cancer diagnosis and treatment, be highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task. Qualified candidates must be a Certified Tumor Registrar.
