Clinical Social Workers provide clinical services to clients/inmates in a residential, home, inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, correctional or similar setting.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The Desert Willow Treatment Center serves the most severely emotionally disturbed youth between the ages of 6-17. Incumbents conduct psychosocial assessments of youth including DSM IV diagnoses and mental status examinations; develop individual, family and group psychotherapy; and provide testimony at court hearings. Outpatient Clinical Services provides individual and family therapy services to severely emotionally disturbed children, 6-17 years of age, and their families in an office and/or home-based setting; and provides intensive clinical case management in a wraparound service delivery model facilitating family-driven child & family teams. Incumbents will be responsible for formulating psychosocial assessments and DSM IV diagnoses as well as creating and implementing individualized treatment plans. Early Childhood Mental Health Services Program provides services in office, community, and home-based settings. Services include individual and family therapy and intensive clinical case management in a wrap-around model. Incumbents will provide therapeutic services to children with severe emotional disturbances, birth to 6 years of age, and their families and will be responsible for assessing children including strengths, needs and diagnoses; developing individualized treatment plans and wraparound case management plans; facilitating family-driven child and family teams; providing reports to custodial agencies and courts and testifying in court hearings. Early Childhood Treatment Program provides individual and family therapy services to severely emotionally disturbed children, birth to 12 years of age. The Outpatient Clinical Services Program provides therapeutic services to children with severe emotional disturbances, 6 to 18 years of age, and their families. The Early Childhood Mental Health Services program provides therapeutic services to children with severe emotional disturbances, birth to 6 years of age, and their families. Both programs provide services in office, community, and home-based settings. Services include individual and family therapies, intensive clinical case management in a wrap-around model. The Inpatient Services Program at Desert Willow Treatment center serves youth with the severe emotional disturbances who require the most intensive and restrictive levels of treatment. All positions assess children including strengths, needs and diagnoses; develop individualized treatment plans and wraparound case management plans (except in-patient); facilitate family-driven child and family teams; provide reports to custodial agencies and courts and testify in court hearings.

Education and Experience

1)Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers.

Special Notes

1)Incumbents must obtain and maintain licensure or provisional licensure to engage in social work as a Clinical Social Worker or associate in social work in accordance with NRS Chapter 641B and the regulations adopted by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers.

2)Persons employed by a government agency on July 1, 1988 as a social worker, supervisor of social work or administrator of social work who were performing clinical social work duties, and who possess a license to practice as an associate in social work and who meet the experience requirements are eligible to compete in the selection process for this series.

1)A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

2)Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
