Las Vegas Hospitals
The Las Vegas metro area is home to approximately two million people, and is the fastest-growing metro area in the United States. It includes the cities of Las Vegas, Boulder City, Henderson, North Las Vegas and unincorporated areas of Clark County.
Although there are 15 acute hospitals in Las Vegas, an average of one to two new facilities are being constructed each year to keep pace with the seemingly endless growth and to serve the needs of a surprisingly diverse community. Along with growth comes the need for skilled medical professionals, and as a result the demand for physicians, nurses and other healthcare practitioners is extremely high — growth is faster than the hospitals’ ability to recruit.
This is due in part to not enough nurses being educated locally to satisfy increased demand and in some cases, although some universities have added more programs, including UNLV, which now has tracks for master’s and doctorate degrees.
Salaries in Western states like Nevada are already among the highest in the nation, and the opportunities for professional and career growth and advancement are unlimited. In order to attract qualified professionals to Las Vegas hospitals, some facilities may offer generous signing bonuses or incentive programs or even job placement services for spouses.
